Bring Every Thought Into Captivity – Jeremy Lallier lifehopeandtruth.com

This article addresses an interesting principle that cuts contrary to modern belief – bringing every thought into captivity. An idea that we are not subject to whatever enters our mind, instead we can rule over and control what we think about. Like the trick in trying to remove air from a cup the only way to remove unwanted thoughts is to fill the mind with desired ones.

As pointed out here in this article, this requires us to dig deep conceptually. Within the book of Philippians, we are encouraged to meditate on things that are true, noble, just, pure – things of virtue. Implication – “to meditate” is to focus, question, work to understand, to think deeply.

Our physical brain can only focus on a finite number of things so by flooding that capacity with a desire to understand virtue, the net result will be the displacement of unwanted thoughts thus bringing them into captivity.
