Resist the Shattering

Here’s the bad news: Satan is out to get you. He wants to ruin your salvation, crush your spiritual potential, and leave you broken.

But here’s the good news: He can’t—unless we let him. Jesus promises, “No one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand” (John 10:29). Our salvation is secure, but that doesn’t mean Satan stops trying to get us to walk away from it ourselves. He attacks through discouragement, distraction, doubt—whatever it takes to wear us down and get us to give up.

That’s a fight he can only win if we stop resisting.

The Days of Unleavened Bread reminded us not only to reject sin, but to actively replace it with righteousness. Likewise, resisting Satan isn’t passive. Peter warns that Satan is like a roaring lion—he must be resisted, steadfast in faith (1 Peter 5:8-9). Paul tells us to wrestle—not sit still—with the spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:11-12).

Here’s a physics picture: Two identical flower pots fall. One shatters, one bounces. Which hit harder? The one that bounced. Why? It pushed back.

Satan wants to shatter you. He wants pressure to break you. But Jesus, tempted like us in every way, never gave in—and because He overcame, we have access to grace and strength when we need it (Hebrews 4:15-16).

We will stumble. But through God’s mercy, we rise again. Our trials shape us into God’s children. Our enemy hopes they’ll destroy us.

Don’t let him win.

Resist. Keep resisting—through tears, through trials, even to bloodshed if it comes to that. Christ did. And He walks with us now as our High Priest, helping us every step of the way.

Keep pushing back.
