The Feast of Trumpets: A Warning and a Hope youtu.be
The Feast of Trumpets is the fourth step in God’s plan of salvation, commanded in Leviticus 23:24 as a “memorial of blowing of trumpets.” In Scripture, trumpets announced war and destruction (Numbers 10) and the coronation of a king (1 Kings 1:34). Both meanings reveal the prophetic purpose of this day.
First, it points to the coming Day of the Lord – a year-long period of God’s judgment before Christ’s return. Isaiah calls it “the day of the Lord’s vengeance… the year of My redeemed” (Isaiah 34:8; 63:4). Revelation describes this period as a series of seven trumpet plagues, bringing global upheaval and warning mankind to repent before the final outpouring of God’s wrath.
Second, the Feast of Trumpets points to the return of Jesus Christ. At the seventh trumpet, voices in heaven will proclaim: “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ” (Revelation 11:15). Christ will return as King of kings, remove Satan’s influence, and establish His reign of peace.
Third, this feast pictures the resurrection of the saints. Paul writes, “The dead in Christ will rise first… at the last trumpet” (1 Thessalonians 4:16; 1 Corinthians 15:52). The faithful will be changed to spirit, gathered to Christ, and will reign with Him during the Millennium.
Every year, the Feast of Trumpets reminds us of these pivotal events: judgment, Christ’s return, and the resurrection. It is both a warning to a rebellious world and a hope-filled promise for God’s people.
