Have the Ancient Gods Returned? – Darris McNeely ucg.org
Recent events, such as pagan occultism on display at major ceremonies and the alarming societal changes highlighted by social observers like Naomi Wolf, reflect the absence of God. Notably, events like the Grammy Awards and the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony showcase overt displays of satanic imagery, signaling a disturbing trend.
Jonathan Cahn’s book, “The Return of the Gods,” suggests that ancient deities like Baal and Molech have returned and are influencing current evils turned public policy. While compelling, it’s not the whole story.
Revelation’s relevance becomes clearer when visiting the sites of the seven churches mentioned in chapters 2 and 3. These churches existed in cities deeply entrenched in pagan worship, where false gods like Zeus and Artemis were central to daily life. Christ’s messages to these churches provide guidance for facing the challenges of a thoroughly pagan world.
Understanding the demonic influence behind idols is crucial. The Bible asserts that every idol is backed by a demon seeking worship. Today’s manifestations of evil and unholy spiritual forces stem from society embracing these influences, forgetting God in the process.
As we witness an increase in demonic influence, it’s crucial to recognize that the ancient gods never truly left—they’ve hidden behind the pagan adoption of false Christian facades. Our world, forgetting God, has allowed their influence to grow bolder. We are now in a spiritual war, and true Christians are called to stand firm with the armor of God against the emerging forces of darkness.
