God Wants a Relationship With You

The Creator of the universe deeply desires a relationship with you! Even while we were still sinners, He showed His love by sending Jesus to die for us so we could be reconciled to Him (Romans 5:8-10). He invites us to “draw near” to Him, and He promises to draw near to us (James 4:8).

But what kind of relationship does God want?

To understand that, we must ask: Why did God create us in the first place? King David pondered this in Psalm 8: “What is man that You are mindful of him?” The New Testament answers this in Hebrews 2—God created humanity to bring “many sons to glory” (verse 10). He wants a family.

Unlike the animals created after their kind, humans were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Jesus, the firstborn Son, taught us to call God our “Father.” He came to reveal that God’s ultimate purpose is to make us His children (John 1:12; Matthew 6:9).

This relationship is not one of fear or bondage, but of love and closeness—we’re told to cry out “Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15). God wants to be your Father, and for you to be His child, growing to be like Him.

How do we build that relationship? Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15). Our obedience is a response to God’s love for us—a love so powerful, He gave His only Son (John 3:16).

God is building a family—and He wants you in it.
