6000 Year Old earth? tomorrowsworld.org
One common misinterpretation of the Bible is that the earth is only about 6,000 years old. To get the complete story, it helps to begin at the beginning, at least the Bible verses that describes a time before creation itself. 1“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God… 2 He (the Being that became Jesus [John 1:14]) was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him. (John 1:1-3) This brings us to Genesis 1:1; “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” At some point God and the Word created all things. This is where a simple mistranslation derails so many.
Within the book of Isaiah [45:1] we are told that the earth was created perfect, able to sustain life. Yet Genesis 1:2 says the earth was in chaos “without form”, void and dark. A simple and more accurate translation of the word “was” should be “became”. Many scholars agree this verse would be better translated “the earth became without form (chaos)…” as God did not create it that way.
There was an event that caused this chaos. The Bible does point to this event that changed a perfect creation to chaos, the time between verse 1 and 2. Ezekiel [28:15] describes the angelic rebellion led by Satan. The result of this rebellion was the destruction of the once perfect creation. The creation week as laid out in Genesis would be more accurately described as the re-creation week. Though mankind was created around 6,000 years ago the earth is older, possibly billions of years. This fact has been consistently proven through scientific discoveries.
One additional aspect brought out in this video is the 7,000-year plan of God as laid out within the creation week. This plan is represented in one day for 1,000-year time periods. We are now nearing the end of 6,000 years or the sixth, 1,000 year, day. Approaching the last 1,000-year period as laid out in re-creation week and also laid out through God’s Holy Days.
