In Matthew 7:23, Jesus warns, “Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” He doesn’t rebuke them for sinning once—but for making sin a lifestyle. These individuals called Him “Lord,” performed miracles, and looked religious—but their actions denied God’s law.

Lawlessness isn’t just breaking rules; it’s rejecting God’s authority. It can include sincere people who’ve been taught that God’s commands—like the Sabbath or His appointed times—no longer matter. But sincerity doesn’t erase the danger of walking the wrong path.

The issue isn’t perfection—it’s direction. Do we repent when we fall? Do we seek to obey, or do we excuse sin and call it grace? Scripture contrasts those who “practice righteousness” with those who “practice sin.” The difference is found in the heart: soft, teachable, and striving to walk in God’s ways.

Jesus isn’t looking for flawless people—He’s looking for faithful ones. Those who align their lives with His Word, not just in belief but in practice.

The question remains: What are you practicing?
