The Gospel in the Old Testament – Matt King thefatherscall.org
The gospel message is found throughout the Old Testament. Christ’s role as Redeemer and Savior is at its heart, along with the major themes of restoration and reconciliation. The gospel connects the Old and New Testaments. We know that at some point in the past, the whole creation existed in a state of peace and harmony. This peace was disrupted by the rebellion of the archangel Lucifer. Created perfect, he was responsible for reflecting our Father’s light, way of life and nature into the world. Instead, he rebelled. Thus, Heylel (in Hebrew) became Satan, the adversary of God. From the time of the garden of Eden Satan has broken the bond of peace between God and man through sin. God the Father is in the process of reconciling the mind of man to Himself through Jesus Christ so He can ultimately expand His family. (Colossians 1: 20). This gospel message is consistently carried throughout both the Old and the New Testaments. For example, the prophet Isaiah addressed the good news of Israel’s restoration and reconciliation. And from this redemption, all the other nations will also come into a relationship with their Creator. It is the good news of the entire Bible.
