The Algorithm and the Altar: Escaping the Game of Ritual Religion truthsum.org
In today’s digital world, many think we’ve moved beyond ancient ritualism—but we haven’t. Social media runs on algorithms that reward certain behaviors: say the right thing, perform the right way, and you’re praised. Step out of line, and the system punishes you. This pattern mirrors the ancient religious mindset: manipulate the gods with rituals to get what you want.
Shockingly, this same game can infect our faith. Ancient Israel turned God’s commands into checklists. The Pharisees turned the Sabbath into a performance. And even today, Christians fall into similar traps—saying the right phrases about grace while resisting obedience or turning church into a show.
Jesus called us to something deeper: not ritual without meaning, but relationship with the living God. True faith is not transactional—it’s transformational. God doesn’t want spiritual algorithms. He wants sons and daughters walking humbly in trust, obedience, and love.
So let’s step off the stage. Let’s stop performing. And let’s walk with God again—heart, soul, and spirit.
